Materials - Building Sandcastles
We investigated how water affects sand when building sandcastles. First, the children predicted whether dry sand or wet sand would make the best sandcastle. They observed that dry sand was loose and fell apart, while wet sand stuck together and held its shape. The children discovered that water helps the grains of sand stick together, making stronger sandcastles. This experiment encouraged the children to make predictions, observe changes, compare results, and develop an understanding of materials and their properties.
